Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC) has received a $15,000 grant from the Bank of America Foundation that will support TLC’s work to double the pace of conservation in our region by helping to educate more people through its popular Wild Ideas series on the importance of land conservation to provide their clean drinking water, locally grown food, and good health.
“We are pleased by Bank of America Foundation’s continued commitment to conservation and education,” explained Triangle Land Conservancy’s Executive Director, Sandy Sweitzer. “This funding will allow TLC to cultivate the next generation of conservationists, engage our community in conversations about conservation, and accelerate efforts to protect land in the Triangle region.”

In TLC’s recently updated Strategic Action Plan, the organization aims to conserve 25,000 acres of land by 2025. Since 1983, TLC has permanently conserved 18,358 acres of land and over 138 miles of stream in the Triangle. The organization is motivated by current and projected population growth and inspired by the community’s enthusiasm for land, water, farm, and wildlife conservation work. The new strategic plan sets aggressive conservation and community engagement goals, with increased emphasis on safeguarding clean drinking water. Healthy land means healthy water, people, and communities.
Wild Ideas provides a dynamic, interactive venue for experts and the community to share innovative ideas on how to ensure that generations to come will be able to enjoy the natural world that nourishes us in many ways – from fresh water to drink, to local food to eat, to beautiful places that provide calm in our busy world.
