Durham, NC -- A $10,000 commitment from Q2, an online financial firm with offices in Cary, will allow Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC) to continue to inspire a diverse group of high school students to develop meaningful connections with nature.
Q2’s grant will fund the Pathways Into Natural Environments and Science fellowship (PINES), a program dedicated to developing interest in careers in the conservation field through hands-on and mentored experiences through a lens of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Triangle Land Conservancy is among the 12 inaugural recipients of the Q2 Philanthropy Fund grantees. "We are pleased by Q2 Philanthropy Fund's commitment to supporting innovative and nimble solutions that stimulate greater interest in conservation and education," said TLC's Executive Director Sandy Sweitzer.
Funding from Q2 will allow the nonprofit organization to dedicate more staff time to the program, arrange field trips, provide transportation to students to attend programs, supply additional monetary support to students in need, and more.
"These deserving organizations are making a tangible impact within their respective communities, and we are proud to help provide the resources needed to extend the reach of their missions,” said Kim Rutledge, executive vice president of People at Q2.
The PINES Fellowship will continue in the Spring 2023 semester at Knightdale High School. Knightdale High was selected for its diverse student base and proximity to Williamson Nature Preserve, a TLC-conserved property.
