Triangle Land Conservancy announced today that it has received a $40,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation that will support programs to continue and improve TLC efforts to provide under-served communities with regular opportunities to enjoy and explore nature. The funding will also help to expand TLC’s popular Wild Ideas series to reach larger audiences.
“We are grateful for Duke Energy Foundation’s commitment to environmental access and education,” explained Triangle Land Conservancy’s Executive Director, Sandy Sweitzer. “This grant will allow TLC to get more people outside with programs that inspire a love of the outdoors and a spirit of exploration.”
The grant will support Get Wild! Programs and the Wild Ideas series. Get Wild! provides parents and children with fun, interactive programs about the environment on TLC preserves across the Triangle. The Wild Ideas provides a dynamic, interactive venue for experts and the community to share their innovative ideas for how to safeguard clean water, protect natural habitats, support local farms and food, and connect people with nature. These are just two of the many programs TLC offers to make the Triangle a more vibrant place for all of us to live, work, and play.
“Science education and environmental stewardship are two critical focus areas for Duke Energy,” said Duke Energy’s Indira Everett, district manager for government and community relations. “The Triangle Land Conservancy emphasizes both with these programs, and we’re happy to make this opportunity available for children and their parents to get outside, learn and have fun.”
