FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Chris Fowler Communications Manager 919.908.0056 | cfowler@triangleland.org Triangle Land Conservancy Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 613-acre Nature Preserve George and Julia Brumley Family Nature Preserve in Orange County Durham, NC (March 21, 2017) – Triangle Land Conservancy announced today that it will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 21st, 2017 celebrating the public opening for the 613-acre George and Julia Brumley Family Nature Preserve. The celebration will include remarks from stakeholders, recognition of the many supporters who have championed the project over the course of many years, and the opportunity to explore the preserve through guided hikes. Refreshments will be available. The Brumley Preserve was designed as a model for sustainable land management practices and recreation. The 15 miles of trails were built with the help of hundreds of volunteers to complement the contours of the land, reduce run off, and connect people with the best natural elements that this property has to offer. The trails on the preserve will provide a mix of hiking-only and mixed-use (mountain biking and hiking) trails. “The opening of this beautiful preserve to the public reflects years of work by hundreds of people and supporters of TLC, open space, and conservation.” said Sandy Sweitzer, Executive Director. “We are grateful to the many staff, volunteers, donors, and governmental partners who made this possible. Triangle Land Conservancy is thrilled to offer this wonderful resource to the community.” The ribbon cutting will take place the day before the Preserve opens to the general public. Beginning at 9:00 am on Earth Day, April 22nd, Triangle Land Conservancy will host a family-friendly day of guided hikes, mountain biking tutorials, nature activities, food trucks, local beer, and more! Full details on triangleland.org The Brumley Preserve was acquired in 2010 and this Earth Day opening is the culmination of years of work and will support three of Triangle Land Conservancy’s four public benefits: safeguarding clean water, protecting natural habitats, and connecting people with nature.
