April Events Postponed | TLC COVID Update NC

Update (3/30/20): All in-person April events have been postponed. We are hosting weekly Conservation Conversations on Wednesday at 6 p.m. via Zoom conferencing. Our nature preserves remain open. In the statewide stay-at-home order, hiking, running, biking, and walking outdoors are listed as essential activities. Please be mindful of others on the trail and remain six feet away from other people at all times. Update (3/16/20): In light of the latest guidelines from the CDC about COVID-19 and postponing gatherings of more than 50 people for the next 8 weeks, TLC has postponed the Grand Opening of Bailey and Sarah Williamson Preserve, which was scheduled for April 25. We also realized that after making the difficult decision to postpone our March and early April volunteer workdays, it would be more difficult for us to prepare the preserve for its opening day. Our amazing volunteers are an integral part of the Grand Opening of Williamson Preserve (and all our work!) helping to build trails, clear debris, and finish all the other tasks needed to prepare the preserve for its opening day. It’s never been more clear that we can’t do our work without our loyal and hardworking volunteers. We will be rescheduling the celebration and will be in touch with a new date in the coming weeks. While it was a difficult to decision to make, we look forward to gathering together at a future date, and we know that thanks to our community’s support, we will continue to do what we can to prepare the preserve for its future opening day. Triangle Land Conservancy has made the difficult decision to postpone all in-person organized events, hikes, and volunteer workdays through March in keeping with the NC Department of Health and Human Services’ guidelines for large gatherings. We will miss seeing you all at these fun events, but our concern first and foremost is for the health and wellbeing of our community. We are doing all we can to promote the safety of our members, volunteers, and staff. In the meantime, we are looking to move events such as guest lectures online, and we will be keeping you updated with ways to get involved remotely. TLC nature preserves will remain open for the time being so that if you’re healthy, you can continue to spend time outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine. Spending time in nature is linked to good health and reduction of stress. We encourage you to continue practicing good hygiene and to follow the guidelines posted by the CDC and NC DHHS, which include washing your hands and avoiding contact with others if sick.
