As TLC starts a new fiscal year, we extend our gratitude to the members of the Board of Directors who are stepping down. Their experience, guidance, and commitment to protecting local lands have helped accelerate our work.
We are deeply grateful to outgoing board members Bert Fisher, Rebecca Balter, Anupama Joshi, Jenny Bo, and Paige Jackson for their dedicated service. Throughout their tenures, each have made important contributions to TLC – strengthening the organization and impacting the Triangle's future for the better.
Special thanks to Bert Fisher, who joined TLC's Board in 2019, for his leadership as Board Chair over the last two years. Bert's board service began just before COVID and then helped TLC achieve our goal of protecting 25,000 acres a year early. As Chair, he helped TLC raise over $65 million in donated land value and gifts for our Force for Nature campaign, which allowed TLC to conserve over 6,000 acres and open our eighth public nature preserve.
As Board Treasurer, Rebecca Balter helped TLC develop an innovative, no-interest bridge loan model that allowed us to complete land protection projects more quickly.
TLC is proud to recognize the board's new leadership: Lysandra Weber as Board Chair, Lawson Carmichael as Vice Chair, Will Perreault as Treasurer, and Dr. Zakiya Leggett as Secretary. We are excited for their leadership as TLC strives towards new strategic goals and continues the momentum for land, water, and farms in the Triangle.
Lastly, please join us in welcoming our newest board members — Danny Bell, Rodney Dickerson, and Javier Arce Nazario — who bring a wealth of experience, passion, and diverse perspectives to TLC's mission.
