Unplug, Unwind and Uncover the Great Outdoors with Campout! Carolina

October 9, 2014

Shut down your computers. Switch off your smart phones. Put your iPads aside. Get back to the basics this October with Campout! Carolina – the great outdoors is calling your name! Join EarthShare North Carolina (ESNC), a network of nonprofit regional environmental groups including Triangle Land Conservancy, the weekend of Oct. 10-12 for its annual statewide campout to celebrate the great state we call home.

Your weekend home away from home

Campout! Carolina is an event that celebrates North Carolina’s natural beauty and the great outdoors. People participate by turning off electronics, unplugging non-essential appliances and camping out in their backyards or favorite camping spots. Campout! Carolina is for everyone; from nature lovers to first-time campers, families, friends, kids young and old and everyone in between, to show support for a healthy environment in North Carolina.

Last year, more than 4,000 North Carolinians participated. People camped in the Smokies, at Hammocks beach and many of the NC’s favorite spots that have been preserved to retain NC’s natural character. Visit Campout! Carolina's Facebook page for camping tips and tricks. Now in its eighth year, ESNC hopes to encourage more participants and set a Campout! Carolina record (the favorable weather makes this goal even more achievable!)! So pitch a tent and register free of charge to camp out at www.campoutcarolina.org.

Have a favorite camping spot in the Triangle region? If so, let us know! Don't have the time or gear for camping this weekend? Then consider just taking whatever time you have to spend a few moments in nature at one of our preserves. We think any time spent outside is good for the body and soul!
