Recreational Activities
Hike – Research a park or preserve trail you’d like to visit and go for a hike. There’s no minimum distance!
Kayak or Canoe – If you have access to a boat, go for a paddle in a nearby river, creek, or pond.
Swim – Go for a swim! A lake is ideal, but any safe body of water you have access to will work.
Camp in Your Backyard – Set up a tent and any other amenities (fire, hammock, etc.) in your yard. Spend the night as though you were camping in the wilderness. Fires require adult supervision and should not be left unattended.
Bike Ride – Take your bike for a spin around the neighborhood or on a Greenway.
Meditation – Spend at least ten minutes sitting in nature. Listen to the sounds around you and notice the colors. You can also try a meditative walk through nature. For this, you’ll want to stay silent as you observe nature. Take the time to stop and listen or watch.
Birding – Go birding by watching a bird feeder, taking a walk, or sitting out in nature. You can use our guide to help you identify a few of the commonly seen birds.
Picnic – Pack up a few snacks, grab a blanket, and head to a nearby park or field. Enjoy your time outside as you eat and socialize.
Cloud Gazing – On a day with many fluffy clouds, find a shaded spot and look up at the sky. What animals or objects can you see in the clouds?
Other – If you can do it outside, then it counts!
