The creek at Johnston Mill is home to crayfish, frogs, salamanders, turtles, and a variety of fish. After a shaded walk out to the creek entrance, we’ll take nets into the water to see some of these creek critters up close. We’ll also talk about some of the reasons it’s so important to keep these aquatic habitats clean and learn some tricks for catching crayfish, frogs, and salamanders.

This program is recommended for families with children ages 5 and up. Children younger than 5 may have trouble with the walk or rocky creek bottom. Walking in the creek is optional. We recommend closed-toed shoes such as old sneakers or rain boots if you will be entering the creek. We will meet at the Turkey Farm Road Entrance.
