The Walnut Wednesday’s “Nut-Heads” successfully completed their first workday, delayed by one day due to weather, on Thursday, September 7. Four enthusiastic volunteers came out on a cool September morning. Sounds of hammers rang out as they took down old fence lines and goat stalls in the main area of the preserve. This area will eventually be the official entrance to the preserve when it opens to the public in the future. Their attention turned to rebuilding the fence line later in the morning and the results speak for themselves!
I’m truly thankful for a successful launch of this new group. Thank you to those who were able to make it and I’m excited to meet many other new volunteers we’ll host as this program continues. The “Nut-Heads” will be meeting the first Wednesday of every month from 9-12 at the preserve in eastern Wake County. Contact [email protected] if you’re interested in being added to this volunteer list!
