Meera Butalia

PINES Assistant

Meera is currently a student at N.C. State University working towards a B.S. in Science, Technology, and Society, with minors in Creative Writing and Environmental Education. She grew up in Pittsboro, North Carolina and spent time in AmeriCorps NCCC, supporting conservation and community development projects on the west coasts, before coming back to NC for school.

Her experience working with similar environmental education projects in the past is what drew her to the PINES, and she’s excited to help support and build the PINES community! She is also involved in CRANE, a critical Asian issues student collective on NCSU’s campus, and recently started working with a research project focused on how ecological narratives can help build emotional and community wide resilience in K-12 students. In her free time, she enjoys painting, reading, and making fairy houses in the woods.
