What is your role at TLC? As Human Resources Manager, I am responsible for TLC’s talent acquisition, onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, staff engagement, and employee relations.
Favorite TLC preserve? Horton Grove was the first TLC preserve that I visited and is still my favorite. The hiking trails are beautiful and I find visiting the land that was once part of the Stagville plantation an important way to connect to the history and legacy of the region.
Lyd Ahlum Hanson joined TLC as Human Resources Manager in January 2024. They grew up playing in the creeks and woods of the Blue Ridge region of Maryland and moved to the Triangle in 2016 after a decade in southeastern Michigan. Lyd is certified in human resources (SHRM-CP) and holds an MSW and MPH from University of Michigan – Ann Arbor where they focused on sexuality and gender-related health disparities, youth leadership, and community organizing. Lyd believes that accountability and a growth mindset are the cornerstones of organizational success and is committed to creating people-first workplaces through equity, strategy, and meaningful relationships. Lyd lives in Durham, North Carolina with their wife, dog, and cat, and greatly enjoys being outside and cooking for friends and family.
