What is your role at TLC? As Senior Communications Manager, I’m dedicated to ensuring TLC’s marketing, communications, and public outreach efforts directly support our mission to create a healthier and more vibrant Triangle region. I work with the entire TLC team to implement our strategic action plan and share our stories so that we attract and engage conservationists.
Favorite TLC Preserve? The Bailey and Sarah Williamson Preserve is a special gem in the middle of one of the fastest growing areas of the country. The more I learn about the history of the preserve and the people that lived and worked on this land, the more I want to spend time in this outdoor oasis.
Cara is a rare North Carolina native who grew up in Alamance County and spent her childhood playing in wooded areas and local creeks. Her life and work experiences have taken her to the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest Puget Sound, both of which provide some of the most scenic protected areas for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. Happy to be back in Cackalacky, Cara most recently managed communications for the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at NC State’s College of Natural Resources. A graduate of NC State University with a degree in English and a minor in Visual Design, she is a passionate advocate for creating and preserving public places and spaces.
