What is your role at TLC? As the Administrative Associate, Amber supports the Executive Director, Director of Finance, Advancement, and the leadership team. To assist TLC in their mission and everyday tasks, Amber manages mail, facilities, phones, insurance claims, and other projects thrown her way.
Favorite TLC preserve? Amber absolutely loves Justice Loop at Horton Grove. She discovered this preserve during COVID and she has spent many hours there but still has a lot of exploring to do.
Amber comes from 16+ years of working with Durham Public Schools. She has a degree in education and has worn many hats in the schools from in the classroom to bookkeeping, school improvement management, and most recently restorative practice coordinator. Amber grew up in Colorado and has a love for the outdoors including hiking, kayaking, and hanging out with her husband, two kids, and two dogs. Amber is passionate about Restorative Justice and volunteers on the leadership board of RJ Durham. She co-founded a nonprofit in Durham: Jubilee Home which collaborates with justice involved folk to foster belonging, promote healing, and build wellness into our community through quality, low barrier, supportive housing.
