The day after Thanksgiving, national #optoutside day, TLC opened four additional miles of trail in partnership with the Town of Clayton at the Williamson Preserve and River Walk Property.
The new trail, known as Magnolia Run, can be accessed from the Salamander Loop in the southern part of the preserve. The trail which twists and turns for four miles pays homage to one of the longest trails that used to be located at Legend Trails in Clayton. Additionally, umbrella magnolias can be found dotting a few of the slopes along the trail.
According to Town of Clayton trail coordinator, Cindy Campbell, “Williamson Preserve as a whole offers trail riding on the eastern side of Wake County and in Johnston County, something that has been lacking for many many years. There are numerous trails in Wake County but nothing much on the eastern side until Williamson opened with the first 8 miles of flowy trail. With the new 4 mile addition of the Magnolia Trail there is a little tech to go along with the flow of the first 8 miles.”
When exploring Magnolia Run, make sure to keep an eye out for purple trail markers. Our friends at Sticker Mule, a company that allows you to create high-quality, durable, custom stickers and decals, helped us design these markers. You might have also seen Sticker Mule’s no hiking, no biking, and TLC logo stickers on the trails too. We have worked with Sticker Mule for years to supply the trail marker stickers you see at TLC preserves. We are so grateful for their partnership that has helped TLC mark the trail system in a way that hopefully helps you navigate and enjoy adventures safely at TLC preserves.
So come out and explore the new multi-use trail. The new multi trail can be accessed from the main parking lot or from the greenway. In case you missed it and are looking for a walking-only trail as well, our new Bootleggers one-mile loop opened this fall. This trail is also accessible from the greenway. TLC is also working on two additional miles that will link into Magnolia Run which we plan to open in 2022.
