New Year’s Walk

 Start 2017 off outside with a walk at beautiful Horton Grove Nature Preserve in Northern Durham County! Join TLC’s Sandy Sweitzer and Christine Wilson for a moderately paced social hike on this preserve’s extensive trail system. The group walk for about 3 miles from Walker Trail to parts of Justice Loop and Hart Trail but there are several other trails and loops on the property if you would like to explore on your own or continue farther. We’ll pass through mature forests, including upland oak-hickory forests, beech slopes, and several stands of mixed pine and hardwoods. TLC has restored two small native plant meadows here, including a 20-acre warm season grassland surrounding the main parking area great for wildlife spotting.
