Get Wild! Hoots and Howls

Get Wild! Hoots and Howls registration is now full. If you have not already registered, please join us for one of our other Get Wild! events, such as Get Wild! National Wildlife Day on September 4th.

Did you know owls can turn their heads 270 degrees in almost a complete circle? Join us for an exciting evening walk at Johnston Mill Nature Preserve as we learn about these magnificent animals that we so rarely get to see during the day. We’ll listen for owl calls and coyotes’ howls as we search by ear as well as sight for some of the night’s early risers. We’ll also turn logs and search for frogs and salamanders.

The gentle evening hike is open to families with children ages 5 and up. We will hike out as it starts getting dusky and return to the parking lot at Turkey Farm Road before sunset.

Please wear closed-toed shoes. Bug-spray is recommended.
