The Triangle Land Conservancy family is deeply saddened to learn of the loss of our friend and former board member, Dr. Phail Wynn Jr. His wisdom, generosity, and leadership will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. When John McAdams and I met with Dr. Wynn to invite him to serve on TLC’s Board of Directors in 2015, he shared a story that I’ll never forget. As we talked about the importance of land conservation, Dr. Wynn’s face lit up with joy as he talked about his home on the beautiful Eno River. Then he surprised us by talking about his beloved motorcycle collection and pulled out his phone to share photos. He said that one reason that he loves to ride motorcycles is because he gets closer to nature traveling that way. The thought of him communing with nature by motorcycle on the open road makes me smile. We will miss his wise counsel on TLC’s board and in our community.
