Rhodies in full bloom at Flower Hill Nature Preserve!

May 8, 2012

Last week TLC led an outing to our Flower Hill Nature Preserve and caught the Rhododendrons  (Rhododendron catawbiense) at their peak.  Participants were in for a special treat as botanists Donna Wright and Tom Wentworth co-led the outing.

The Rhododendrons were in full bloom and Donna and Tom pointed out numerous other natural wonders, from old long leaf pines to new emerging fiddle head ferns.  Donna had even gone out early and posted signs of some of the special natural features, the signs and the blooms should still be out for a bit, so it’s a great time to get out and explore this wonderful preserve.
