Join us to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Bailey and Sarah Williamson Preserve being Open!
Help us celebrate the one-year anniversary of the opening of Bailey and Sarah Williamson Preserve! Join us on Saturday, September 18th for small tours with staff, raffles, self-guided exploration, and a chance to meet Williamson Preserve farmers and partners.
The event lasts from 11:30 am-2:30 pm. In an attempt to limit large group sizes, we will be asking everyone to register for a specific arrival time below. We will have events every hour so that no groups will miss out on anything that they would like to participate in.
Free baked goods will be available thanks to Ms. Kia Bradsher and the fall 21-22 Culinary Arts 1 students at Knightdale High School! This class is made up of Sophomores through Seniors, all eager to learn the art of culinary and share their new talents.
TLC seeks to build a supportive, mask-friendly environment in all collaborations with staff and the public. We strongly encourage all attendees to wear a mask and will have masks available. Our top priority is to create a safe environment for our community.

Schedule of Events
11:45 am – 12:30 pm hike
Join us for a tour led by Leaf and Limb! TLC is proud to have Leaf and Limb as one of our farming operations at Williamson Preserve. On this hike, you’ll have the chance for a behind-the-scenes tour of the “Plum Field” that Leaf and Limb is using to make Project Pando into a reality. The goal of Project Pando is to create a volunteer-driven tree farm that sustainably grows native trees to give to the public for free.
12:45-1:30 hike
Hike our “Two Pond Loop” to experience the beauty of Williamson Preserve first hand. Two Pond Loop is an easy, 1-mile loop trail that the whole family is guaranteed to enjoy!
1:45 hike
Joe Miller from Get Going NC joins us for an exciting hike, which visit’s TLC’s newest trail “Bootleggers Loop”. To participate in this hike, be prepared to drive less than a mile on a dirt road until we reach our starting destination. From there, we’ll do a 3-mile loop over easy terrain that explores TLC’s newest trails, and historic farm roads. If you’re participating in this hike, please be advised to wear long pants – as we will be traveling off-trail for small sections. Special thanks to Great Outdoor Provision Co. for making this hike possible! Please note that this hike may take around 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.
Self-Guided Activities
StoryWalkTM
Our StoryWalkTM is back! Enjoy the book “We are Water Protectors”. Inspired by the many Indigenous-led movements across North America, “We Are Water Protectors” issues an urgent rallying cry to safeguard the Earth’s water from harm and corruption―a bold and lyrical picture book written by Carole Lindstrom and vibrantly illustrated by Michaela Goade. The StoryWalkTM Program was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT as a fun and innovative way for children (and adults) to enjoy reading while in the outdoors.
Williamson Preserve Scavenger Hunt
Explore the wonders of nature at Williamson Preserve by completing our preserve scavenger hunt! Scavenger hunt cards will be available on-site and on our social media channels.
