What is your role at TLC? I am the Philanthropy Manager for TLC’s Philanthropy department. I am responsible for providing proactive, strategic analysis and forecasting of philanthropic opportunities to support TLC’s mission of protecting land.

Sonya joined TLC in November 2022 as the Administrative Associate and transitioned to the Philanthropy department in February 2024. Sonya is native to the military town of Fayetteville, NC. She graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in 2016 with a bachelor’s in psychology. After graduation she began work as a licensing social worker. Through her work in her community and the downtime because of the COVID-19 pandemic, she discovered her passion for being outdoors. Sonya enjoys learning about farming and desires to accomplish her goal of homesteading with her family and becoming sustainable.
