What is my role at TLC? As the Conservation Planner, I manage TLC’s spatial data, support the development of conservation plans and initiatives using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and work with communities across the Triangle to incorporate local perspectives into TLC’s planning process.
Favorite TLC preserve? Swift Creek Bluffs Nature Preserve is my current favorite, though I still have more to explore! I enjoy watching the vegetation shift as you gain elevation between the creek and the top of the bluff.
Lily joined TLC in March of 2025. Originally from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, she grew up exploring the marshes, wetlands, and beaches of the Southeast. Interested in conservation and map-making, she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Geography from the University of South Carolina. While there, her research focused on geospatial techniques for conservation planning. Following her education, she moved to the Triangle in 2023 to continue her career as a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Analyst working for NC State University and as a contractor for the Environmental Protection Agency. Hoping to pursue her enthusiasm for local conservation, Lily was eager to join TLC to support the organization’s work in the Triangle.
