In an environment where non-profits are often perceived as working in silos, CORRAL Riding Academy and TLC demonstrated the power of synergy by pooling resources and expertise to create a more substantial impact on the community.
There’s a lot of benefit from simply walking, running or biking through one of TLC’s nature preserves. Research has established that being surrounded by nature is good for us – including reducing eye strain and easing stress! If you want even more health benefits, consider nature journaling.
At the Bailey and Sarah Williamson Preserve, TLC is establishing a five-acre meadow to increase the conservation value of our land in our continued effort to protect natural habitats. Thanks to a grant from the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, the meadow was seeded this spring with technical assistance from Garrett Wildflower Seed Farm.
TLC Trail Guide Margot Lester introduces readers to the joys of nature journaling. Visitors to Williamson Preserve can learn more and engage in meditating in nature with new prompts along Two Pond Loop.
One of TLC’s greatest unsung heroes is Leigh Ann Hammerbacher. Her steady perseverance and deep knowledge of conservation in North Carolina allows her to weave strategies out of red tape and chisel masterpieces out of apparent stonewalls. We are immensely grateful for all of Leigh Ann’s accomplishments during the past 16 years!
