Explore Endor Iron Furnace | May 18, 2 – 4 PM
Join TLC’s Director of Natural Resources, Matt Rutledge, Board Member Jimmy Randolph, and Force for Nature Co-Chair, Sally Edwards, for an exploration of Endor Iron Furnace near Sanford. The furnace is a 35-foot tall, stacked-stone structure used during the Civil War to produce pig iron from iron ore. It was built near the Deep River to take advantage of transportation along the waterway and the iron ore nearby. In the 1990s, TLC protected the 420 acres and deeded the furnace to the state, which is now a State Historical Site.
