Explore the hidden treasure of Joslin Garden | September 15, 2 – 4 PM

Photography by Liz Condo

Join TLC’s staff and longtime volunteer and member James Joslin as they lead you on a tour of Joslin Garden. Joslin Garden offers four acres of rolling hills and gardens overflowing with streams, walking trails, and a diverse collection of rare and native plants, arranged in both formal and informal areas in the heart of Raleigh. James’ late parents William and Mary Coker Joslin worked with TLC in 1997 to place a conservation easement on the property, so their land would be protected forever. In 2010, the Joslin’s approached the City of Raleigh about a donation of their home and garden for a park. Working with the then Mayor Charles Meeker, they created the City of Oaks Foundation, a nonprofit whose purpose is to support the Raleigh parks system. On Earth Day 2021, the Joslin Garden became a City of Raleigh Park, which upholds the Joslin’s vision to give all visitors a natural haven from urban life – and a deep connection to the natural world.
