Come join us at our Horton Grove Nature preserve to learn about historical medicinal plants and their uses. Our Education and Outreach intern Reagan will teach us about the medicinal uses of plants such as Red Maple, Sweetgum, Honeysuckle and many more! This event will explore the history and communities of Historic Stagville, and center discussions about the healing and caring expertise of the people that were once enslaved there.

This short hike will be a little under 2 miles, and will journey through both the grassland and forested areas of the preserve with some slight topographical change. There will be plenty of stops along the way to check out what plants we can find and identify so be sure to bring good walking shoes, sunscreen, and a full water bottle.

This event is free but pre-registration is required. Save your spot here!
