Earth Week – Speed Hike
Find a new way to connect with nature with a speed hike at Johnston Mill Nature Preserve on Tuesday, April 20th. TLC volunteer, Jon, will take you on an aerobic journey through the quiet evening forest. This is a great event for those looking to get some serious exercise. Leashed dogs are welcome to join. All participants, volunteers, and TLC staff will be required to wear a mask that covers both mouth and nose the entire hike. Click this link to register!

Seek and Discover Hike at Brumley North
Whether Stony creek trail is a new or an old favorite, come and see it and Brumley Nature Preserve with new eyes this Earth Day, April 22nd. Before you leave the house, download the Seek by iNaturalist App for your smartphones. We will see how many living things we can share with each other on a walk along the gorgeous banks of Stony creek. This hike is geared toward families and the young at heart. Be prepared to hike as much as 2 miles or less as we adventure to discover interesting life forms instead of counted steps. Click this link to register.
Yoga in the park benefit with Seva Yoga! – POSTPONED TO SUNDAY, APRIL 25TH at 4:00 PM
Our friends at Seva Yoga will be hosting a Yoga in the Park event at Depot Park in Sanford at 4pm on Sunday, April 25th. A percentage of proceeds will benefit TLC. Visit their website to register.
Play Trail Name Bingo with TLC!
This Earth Week, play trail name bingo with TLC! Hit the trails beginning on Monday, April 19th, and try to fill in three hikes in a row – up, down, across, and diagonal all count! Choose one of the two bingo cards below. Be sure to fill out your bingo card, with the date you hiked on a specific trail. While this round of trail name bingo will last until the end of May, complete your bingo card during Earth Week 2021 (April 19th – 24th) to be entered into a special Earth Week drawing! Email a photo of your completed bingo card to [email protected] by 11:59 pm on April 24th to be eligible to win an Earth Week prize pack! Happy trails!

Flower Hill Nature Preserve Clean Up
Join TLC and the Friends of Johnston County Parks for a Countywide clean up event on April 24th. Meet us at our Flower Hill Nature Preserve to help clean up. Please meet us in the parking lot at 9:30 am with a water bottle, long pants and sleeves, closed-toe shoes, and a mask! We have work gloves, but if you have your own pair, we highly suggest you bring them! After the clean-up, we’ll go on a guided tour of the unique property. This event is now at capacity.
