SUMMARY:Biomimicry: Inspiration from Nature
DESCRIPTION:Learn about biomimicry at Swift Creek Bluffs!\nBiomimicry (from the Greek bios\, meaning life\, and mimesis\, meaning to imitate) is the practice of looking at how plants\, animals\, and ecosystems solve problems and then copying those designs to solve human challenges. It’s not about using nature as a resource (like cutting down trees for wood); it’s about learning from nature as a mentor. \n\nJoin Hike Leader\, Leigh Aultman\, to explore familiar organisms and some of the unexpected adaptations they have developed to survive. As we walk along the trail system\, we will ideate how humans could emulate these biological strategies from a range of organisms in a human design.\n\n This is a free event\, but preregistration is required. Due to the size of the parking lot\, we will keep the hiking group small and ask that you register by vehicle rather than individual. Feel free to bring guests but please carpool to ensure we have enough space in the parking lot.\n\n\n\nIf registration is full\, please fill out the waitlist form here by May 28th at noon.\n\n \n\n
