SUMMARY:Fungal Foray at Horton Grove
DESCRIPTION:Join the Triangle Mycological Society for a Fungal Foray!\n We'll explore various habitats and cover fungus types throughout the preserve\, seeking to discover a diverse array of fungal species. Our findings will be documented in iNaturalist\, so we encourage you to download the mobile app if you wish to participate in this citizen science project. The fungal foray is open to all knowledge levels.  We'll gather at the main parking lot at Horton Grove to begin our adventure.  This is a free event\, but preregistration is required. \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Puppy Savvy Hike
DESCRIPTION:Bring your furry friend on an exploration of Brumley Nature Preserve!\nCome hike with other dog lovers\, practice training on the trail\, and learn how to safeguard the nature conservation land we hold dear. The hike is led by Barbara Shumannfang\, who is a TLC trail guide and dog trainer at Puppy Savvy\, LLC.\n\nThere is a maximum of one dog per handler. This hike is for adults only.  Dogs must be non-reactive and on a 6ft fixed-length (not retractable) leash at all times. This is a free event\, but preregistration is required.\n\n \n\n\n\nIf registration is full\, please fill out the waitlist form here by April 16th at noon.

SUMMARY:Rhodo Ramble Volunteer Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join TLC for a ramble through the rhododendrons!\nIn partnership with the Johnston County annual Countywide Cleanup\, TLC Senior Land Manager East\, Patrick Boleman\, will lead a volunteer trash clean up and guide you along our special Flower Hill Nature Preserve to observe the Catawba Rhododendrons that bloom every April.\n\nThe first half of this event will include a volunteer workday to pick up trash at the entrance of the preserve\, then you will continue on a 1-mile hike along the slopes overlooking Moccasin Creek to find a dense stand of rhododendron.  Patrick will discuss the history of Flower Hill and its location on the dividing line between the Piedmont and Coastal Plain\, which contributes to its rich floral life that includes other spring-blooming wildflowers like trout lily\, jack-in-the pulpit\, and Catesby’s trillium.\n\nThis is a volunteer event\, so individuals must create a Volunteer Hub account and register through the link below. Registration is limited due to the small size of the parking lot.\n\n
